Under certain conditions, the costs for employing a maternity nurse are subsidized or even fully covered by statutory health insurance.

These requirements must be considered in accordance with the legal provisions of Section 24 or Section 38 of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V). Regardless of which legal basis applies in each individual case, the following requirements must be met:

1. A medical certificate of necessity is required for the application for domestic help. This can be issued by a gynecologist, general practitioner, or pediatrician.

2. At least one child under 12 years of age living in the household.

3. No person living in the household can take over the continuation of the same.

Additional payment of €5 to a maximum of €10 per day is required.

Of course, the costs for the deployment can be covered privately.
